1. Product description

HPM TileBond 100 Eco is a one-component cement-based tile adhesive, the economy grade in the HPM TileBond range. "Eco" here means economical: it is for ordinary interior tiling that needs a reliable bond, easy application and a sensible cost.

It is made at the HPM plant in Ba Trai, Lien Chau commune, Phu Tho province, from Portland cement, selected mineral aggregate and polymer admixture, to TCVN 7899-1:2008. Mix it with clean water at the stated ratio.

Key properties

  • Stable adhesion: tensile adhesion under standard conditions and after heat ageing is from 0.5 MPa, replacing traditional cement-mortar fixing.
  • Slip resistance: holds tiles on the wall while you work and limits movement.
  • Reduced reverse seepage: helps limit damp and mould under the finished tile.
  • Easy to apply: mixes and spreads easily, saving time and labour.

Choose 100 Eco or another grade?

100 Eco suits dry interior tiling with small and medium tiles. For a longer open time, or tiles up to 100x100 cm, use HPM TileBond C1 adhesive. For exteriors, wet areas or large tiles, use HPM TileBond C2 adhesive.

“On walls, spread a thin extra coat on the back of the tile so the adhesive covers it fully and bonds more firmly.”

2. On-site applications

  • Materials: ceramic tile, porcelain with water absorption above 0.5%, and natural stone up to 45 kg/m².
  • Buildings: houses, apartments, offices and commercial works.
  • Areas: dry interiors such as living rooms, bedrooms and kitchens.
  • Substrates: dry floors and cement walls.

4. How to use and application steps

Application data

  • Mixing ratio: adhesive to water 1 : 0.20 to 0.24 by weight, about 5 to 6 litres of clean water per 25 kg bag.
  • Coverage: 3.5 to 5.0 kg/m², depending on tile size and surface texture.
  • Open time: 10 minutes. Spread only as much as you can tile before spreading more.
  • Pot life: about 60 minutes (at 27°C).
  • Substrate temperature: 12°C to 40°C.
  • Grouting: walls after 7 to 8 hours, floors after 24 hours.

Step 1: Prepare the surface

The substrate must be sound, clean, flat, and free of dust, oil or anything that weakens the bond. Dampen highly absorbent surfaces first, but do not leave standing water.

Step 2: Mix the adhesive

Put the measured water in a bucket, add the adhesive gradually and mix until uniform. A hand mixer or low-speed mixer gives the most even blend.

Step 3: Fix the tiles

Spread the adhesive with a notched trowel held at about 60 degrees so the ridges are even. For large tiles, also butter a thin coat on the back (back-buttering), then set the tile and tap it lightly with a rubber mallet.

Step 4: Clean up

Wipe excess adhesive with a damp sponge before it hardens.

Storage and safety

Store in a dry place on pallets with the bag sealed. Shelf life is 6 months from manufacture. The adhesive contains cement: wear gloves and goggles, and do not leave wet adhesive on the skin.
